25hours Hotel The Olympia has appointed Peter Roach as commercial director, reporting to general manager Jake Guilfoyle.
Roach brings more than a decade of hospitality experience spanning operations, sales, marketing and events. He began his career in housekeeping, before progressing to the role of business development executive at Accor.
Roach worked as sales executive with the Langham Hospitality Group, before progressing through a number of executive sales roles with Accor. Most recently, he served as director of sales & marketing at Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney, where he played an integral role in the hotel’s opening.
As commercial director, he will lead the hotel’s commercial strategy, guest engagement, strategic partnerships and market positioning, driving the next phase of growth across accommodation, food and beverage, events and brand presence.
“The culture we’ve built at 25hours has always been about bringing together great people with fresh ideas, and Peter is exactly that,” 25hours Hotel The Olympia general manager Jake Guilfoyle said.
“He brings a wealth of commercial experience, but just as importantly he understands that the best hotels are driven by personality, creativity and connection. I’m excited to see the impact he’ll have as we continue building on what we’ve created over the past nine months.”

A cultural icon
Roach said that the hotel’s unique location, cultural narrative and distinct offering drew him to the role.
“The Olympia has found its footing at the blurry, brilliant edges of Paddington, Surry Hills and Darlinghurst, a neighbourhood with a deep creative legacy and a diaspora that makes it one of the most interesting corners of Sydney.
“The storytelling we’ve built around the Olympia Theatre’s history gives us something genuinely ours, and our culinary precinct is where that comes alive. Having four distinct venues under one roof is rare for a hotel of our size, and it’s made us a hub for locals, key partners and guests alike. That combination is what drew me to this role,” he said.
“What excites me most now is our agility, and what we do with it next. We’re a global lifestyle brand with the instincts of an independent, able to read the neighbourhood, move quickly, and keep giving people a reason to come back.”
