Parkroyal Melbourne Airport reveals extensive event space revamp

Parkroyal Melbourne Airport reveals extensive event space revamp
Edited by Travel Weekly

Parkroyal Melbourne Airport has revealed an extensive transformation of its event spaces as part of a multi-million-dollar hotel refurbishment.

The revitalisation has enhanced the hotel’s reputation for hosting a wide range of events while offering a convenient and cost-effective airport location, and stylish accommodation options for delegates.

All 16 event spaces feature tailored combinations of layered materials and elegant colours, with bespoke carpeting and accent lighting featuring throughout.

The design was inspired by Australia’s heritage, seamlessly melding Melbourne’s unique character with aerial landscapes that capture Victoria’s scenery.

Delegates have access to a business centre, and each space is equipped with minibars and the latest smart technology and state-of-the-art audio-visual (AV) equipment and professionals are also on standby for all events to assist with AV requirements.

Planners have the option of booking out the entire space for an event, which can include conferences, smaller breakout sessions and pre-function networking drinks.

“Our refurbished meetings and events floor offers a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere, perfect for conferences, corporate dinners, cocktail parties, fully-contained residential meetings and more,” Parkroyal Melbourne Airport GM Cameron Mead said.

“We’ve always had a lot of repeat business due to the versatility of the spaces, and the convenience we offer, given we’re the only airport directly connected to the airport’s terminals via an undercover skybridge, and offer flight arrival and departure screens in our lobby.”

“We’ve observed a particular appetite from the industry association market for our conference spaces, as these bodies draw members from across all states who enjoy the cost, time and resource savings of fly-in-fly-out meetings.”

“We’ve also secured events with both new and existing clients in the medical, pharmaceutical, healthcare, government, logistics, manufacturing, and corporate sectors, ranging from one-day boardroom meetings to multi-day residential conferences. These groups have been eagerly awaiting the re-opening of the meeting and events floor, and we are grateful for their overwhelmingly positive feedback.”

    Focus on flexibility

Parkroyal Melbourne Airport’s event spaces offer a range of flexible configurations, including a selection of smaller meeting spaces for more intimate get-togethers. The Victoria Ballroom offers a capacity of 300-theatre-style and can be split into rooms for 64 cabaret-style, catering to both opening addresses and smaller breakout sessions.

The Ballarat & Daylesford room can host 24 boardroom-style, or 17 in a u-shape style in each room, when the room is divided into two separate spaces.

Those looking for an intimate, private event can head to the refurbished Airo Restaurant and Bar, which offers a private dining room, modern Australian and international cuisine amid warm and comfortable surrounds, with capacity for 60 banquet-style and 80 cocktail-style.

    Surf or Sip

Parkroyal Melbourne Airport is located near a range of attractions suitable for off-site activities. Those with a penchant for adrenaline can travel five minutes to URBNSURF, Australia’s first inland surf park. In between conference sessions, delegates can catch some man-made waves in the venue’s full-sized surfing lagoon or soak up some sunshine from a daybed.

For those after something low-key and cultural, the City of Hume, where the hotel is located, offers a selection of wineries including the historic Craiglee Vineyard, and Goona Warra Vineyard, an 1860s bluestone winery with a cellar.

Parkroyal Melbourne Airport’s refurbished look extends to its 276 guest rooms, which boast a serene colour palette inspired by Australian lifestyles and nature, and the lobby, which creates a voluminous, light-filled contemporary arrival space featuring curated accents for visual interest.
