Love blooms at sunset with proposals on Camp Island
Edited by Travel Weekly

In the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, where the sunsets paint the sky, Kasey and Dylan’s love story took a captivating turn as they got engaged on the picturesque shores of Camp Island Lodge.

The engagement unfolded during a carefully planned family celebration for Dylan’s dad’s 50th birthday, creating a double-whammy of celebrations on the groups holiday.

A “white night” was planned to commemorate Dylan’s dad’s milestone birthday with guests, including Dylan’s brother Brock, sister Grace, and parents Tanya and Dallas, all clad in white, gathered on the sunset beach to enjoy drinks and nibbles.

Little did Kasey know that this “white night” was a ruse. As the sun dipped below the horizon, Dylan suggested a photo, just the two of them, capturing the magic of the setting sun. Unbeknown to Kasey, Dylan’s sister discreetly began recording, and as the sun painted the sky with its final strokes of the day, Dylan dropped to one knee and proposed.

Reflecting on the proposal, Kasey chuckled about how she unintentionally played a part in delaying it.

“I had jokingly mentioned the idea of a proposal on the first day which apparently led to a series of amusing changes in plans!”

The “white night” shifted a couple of times until, finally, on the third day, when no mention of proposals from Kasey were made, Dylan seized the moment and asked the big question on Camp Islands famous “sunset beach”.

Looking ahead, Kasey and Dylan, who have been together for four years, are in no rush to set a wedding date.

However, one thing is clear – if the stars align, and they get the chance, they dream of returning to Camp Island Lodge to exchange vows and create another chapter of their love story in the same enchanting setting that brought them together.

    Love will find a way

Caitlin and Jake’s love story also blossomed during a recent getaway. After a decade together, the couple embarked on a trip for Jake’s cousin Holly’s 30th birthday.

Little did Caitlin know Jake had been under mounting pressure to propose for years. Despite suggestions from friends and even a group chat about proposing on the island, Jake had adamantly denied the idea. However,
behind the scenes, he had been secretly planning.

Jake pops the question to Caitlin.

On the day of their departure, Jake feigned work commitments while secretly purchasing Caitlin’s ring with her father’s help.

The journey to the island was not without its drama, as Jake “lost” his backpack which secretly contained the ring. Panic ensued until Holly miraculously appeared with the missing bag. Throughout their stay, Jake continued to fend off well-meaning comments about proposals, all while maintaining that it wasn’t happening.

On the evening of 22 May, as the group gathered on Sunset Beach to watch the sunset, Jake devised a prank to trick his family into thinking he was proposing. The unsuspecting Caitlin played along until Jake dropped to one knee and produced the ring. Shocked and overwhelmed, Caitlin said “yes”, and the beach erupted with cheers and tears of joy.

Caitlin was especially grateful to Holly for graciously sharing her milestone birthday celebration with their engagement. As they continued to celebrate Holly’s birthday the next day, Caitlin proudly flaunted her dream engagement ring, a stunning 1.25ct solitaire.
