Novotel and ibis Styles Melbourne Airport officially open
Edited by Travel Weekly

Novotel and ibis Styles Melbourne Airport were officially opened today, the largest hotel opening in Australia for 2024 so far.

Melbourne Airport CEO Lorie Argus, Accor Pacific COO Adrian Williams and Visit Victoria CEO Brendan McClements were joined by more than 120 people, including key industry stakeholders, for the official ribbon cutting and launch of the two hotels.

The launch also celebrated a significant milestone for the airport precinct as it welcomed the first new-build internationally branded hotel to open in the precinct in more than 20 years.

    Livinia Nixon MC’d the launch.

The hotels feature a number of firsts being home to the precinct’s first dedicated health and wellbeing hub and home to the airport’s first co-working space. The hub, Higher State, is home to an infrared sauna, pool, yoga studio and spa treatment room. Meanwhile, Aerofoil Workspace is Melbourne Airport’s first co-working space.

“Our vision at Accor is clear: to redefine the concept of airport hotels and transform them into vibrant hubs that serve not just travellers but entire communities,” Accor Pacific COO Adrian Williams said. “And as you can see, the Melbourne Airport precinct is rapidly evolving into a dynamic mini-city, and these new hotels are at the forefront of this transformation.

“Offering 464 beautiful guest rooms split between Novotel and ibis Styles, both hotels also feature a full range of facilities to cater to business, conference, and leisure guests, as well as workers and visitors to the airport district. In addition to three food and beverage outlets, function facilities for up to 330 guests, and Aerofoil Workspace, our hotel-serviced co-working space, we’re providing more than just a place to sleep.”

Melbourne Airport CEO Lorie Argus said: “These new hotels enable us to meet the demand of a growing passenger base and to provide greater choice to travellers looking to spend the night here before an early flight or rest after a long trip.

“Both properties are also a fantastic addition for the 20,000 workers across the airport precinct, offering more food and beverage options, health and wellness facilities, and two floors of amazing co-working space.”

The hotels are within easy walking distance to the airport terminals, with the dual-branded Novotel & ibis Styles Melbourne Airport offering 464 stylishly designed guest rooms split across Accor’s Novotel (248 rooms) and ibis Styles (216 rooms) brands.

Guests and travellers can also enjoy access to three modern dining venues including Small Holdings for coffee and pastries, Boccata Restaurant for more substantial Italian fare and Amber State Taphouse & Kitchen, a modern gastropub (opening in spring).
