The UAE has rejoined the United Nations World Tourism Organisation as its tourism industry continues its rapid growth.

Its reentry to the organisation comes after a 26-year hiatus.

Hilton Worldwide has revealed its Middle East and Africa pipeline has grown by 440% since 2007.

The firm currently has 20,000 rooms now in development across MEA.

A $13 billion investment in transport infrastructure is driving Kuwait's tourism sector, according to government officals.

A further $460 million investment in entertainment, sports and tourism projects by Touristic Enterprises Co is also expected to deliver growth with the destination targeting one million annual visitors by 2015.

UAE tourism receipts are expected to rise 67% to hit US$7.5 billion by 2016 as demand grows fuelled by new hotel supply.

The Saudi hospitality sector is forecast to grow to US$18.1 billion by 2016 with 46% of international arrivals into the GCC currently visiting the destination and domestic tourism also on the rise.

The destination confirmed plans for the new US$7 billion Jeddah airport project are moving forward.
