Former Mirvac-managed properties will be transferred over fully to the Accor distribution system as they take on Accor branding, but in the meantime it is “business as usual”.
All hotels currently operating under Mirvac brands can still be booked using the Mirvac booking and reservations systems, with the Mirvac GDS code still in place.
The sole exception is the already rebranded Pullman Sydney Hyde Park, now only bookable via Accor’s distribution system.
Accor confirmed the majority of Mirvac’s employees would transfer over, with sales staff to continue representing their Mirvac hotels during the integration period.
“Accor has acquired a number of hotel groups during its 21 year operation in Australia and New Zealand, and one of the key benefits of such acquisitions has been gaining access to professional and experienced human resources,” chief operating officer Asia Pacific Michael Issenberg said.
The firm will honour all existing contracted rates at Mirvac hotels, even after rebranding, until the contract period expires.
Full integration is expected to take up to a year, but Accor Australia director of sales and distribution Henrik Berglind predicted the benefits of the merger would be felt far sooner.
“When the All Seasons hotel group was purchased by Accor, it didn’t take very long at all before the group’s hotels were operating almost seamlessly as part of the Accor network,” he said.
