Air New Zealand passengers will get a lesson in air safety from British adventurer Bear Grylls, as a new video featuring the Man vs Wild star is rolled out across its fleet.
In the “Bear Essentials of Safety”, Grylls, accompanied by entomologist Ruud Kleinpaste, visits the South Island’s Routeburn Track where he contends with a menagerie of Kiwi creatures such as a Kea, a Tuatara, native glow worms and the extinct flightless bird, the Moa.
Air New Zealand Chief Marketing and Customer Officer Mike Tod described Grylls as the ideal in-flight safety ambassador.
“Bear was the ideal partner to help us bring to life important on-board safety messages in a unique and compelling way, while at the same time demonstrating the best of what New Zealand has to offer,” he said.
“We hope the global attention this safety video will receive generates more awareness of our amazing country and gets a few more bums on seats.”
It is the latest in series of high profile safety videos which has featured Hobbits, the All Blacks and fitness star Richard Simmons.
