Carnival overhauls sales structure

Complete Cruise Solution will cease operations on March 11, as Carnival Australia unveiled a new sales structure for its cruise brands.

Following in the footsteps of Carnival Cruise Lines which broke away from CCS at the end of last year, P&O Cruises and Princess Cruises will each establish their own brand specific sales teams, with another for P&O Cruises World Cruising and Cunard.

Chief executive Ann Sherry said Complete Cruise Solution had served the cruise operator well, enabling the business to become the "region's largest cruise operator" and placing its goal of one million passengers a year within reach.

But the new approach represents the next "big step forward" to drive Carnival's sales, growth and efficiencies using the power of its individual brands.

"We begin 2013 with an ambitious sales approach that reaffirms Carnival Australia's position as the leading cruise organisation in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific," Sherry said.

"Our new sales structure allows the agility and flexibility to make the most of the market power of Carnival Australia's iconic cruise brands to drive sales and profitabilty."

Under the new structure, sales staff are expected to boost their engagement with travel agents and increase the frquency of travel agent visits. Each brand's "personality" will be communicated with a simplified sales and brand message, which will enable them to be more clearly differentiated.

The search is underway for a sales manager for the P&O Cruises and Princess Cruises sales team, along with several business development managers. However, the new structure means team members, Don Clark and Ken Byers, will depart the organisation.
