China Southern goes daily to Brisbane

China Southern will operate daily flights to Brisbane during the peak summer months but the increase could become permanent if the route performs well.

The carrier currently operates four weekly flights from Guangzhou to the Queensland capital and will go daily from November 21.

While flagged as catering for increased summer demand “and other peak periods”, there is no end date for the daily schedule. If demand is strong, China Southern is likely to retain the additional flights.

If not, frequencies will be scaled back to four, or possibly five weekly flights, around March.

“Brisbane is a very important market for us and we are thrilled to be offering our Queensland passengers more flexibility when it comes to travelling to China and beyond on our modern new aircraft,” regional general manager Australia and New Zealand Henry He said.

The intention is to “at least" double its market share into Queensland over the next five years, he added.

China Southern operates A330-223 aircraft to Brisbane.

Economy fares from Brisbane to Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Seoul start from $854 with flights to LA and Canada available for $1292, rising to $1436 to Amsterdam, Paris and London.
