The cruise industry is anticipating another sales spike next month with the introduction of a National Cruise Week.
The initiative has been described by the International Cruise Council Australasia (ICCA), the organisers, as Australia’s biggest ever cruise promotion.
Almost 30 ICCA member cruise lines will take part in the sales drive that will see a range of exclusive offers made available through more than 1000 travel agent ICCA members.
The move follows similar events staged in the UK and US, where sales of $55 million were generated last year through the National Criuse Week.
“Having seen the success of similar promotions in the US, we know how valuable an event of this scale is to the local cruise industry,” ICCA general manager Brett Jardine said. “As Australia is one of the fastest growing cruise markets in the world, we have high hopes for the inaugural cruise week and believe it will help drive sales even further as we enter the region’s largest cruise season."
