Virgin Australia has named Etihad’s former head of global corporate sales to spearhead its own push into the corporate arena following a global search.
Judith Crompton will take the newly created role of group executive sales and will join chief executive John Borghetti’s team on August 1.
She has also had spells at Qantas, based in Australia and in the UK and Ireland where she was regional general manager.
Crompton will oversee Virgin Australia’s domestic and global sales growth with responsibility for corporate, government, industry and leisure sales. The role will cover eCommerce, Blue Holidays and call centre for the carrier’s domestic and international network.
“Now that we have achieved significant progress in repositioning Virgin Australia as the airline of choice in Australia, driving sales and developing client relationships across all parts of the business is a key focus for our business,” Borghetti said. “Judith’s depth of experience in global sales, together with her extensive management career in travel and aviation industries, will prove a great asset to Virgin Australia.”
During her time at Etihad, an alliance partner of Virgin, Crompton was responsible for the strategic direction and implementation of commercial sales for the airline globally.
