Air France KLM is attempting to capitalise on Australia’s thriving mining sector with a new campaign to build awareness of its services to Africa’s resources regions.
Together with its partner airlines, Air France KLM flies to 52 destinations in Africa with more destinations being added to major resources markets, most recently with Air France’s addition of Nigeria’s capital Abuja to its network.
Regional manager Australia and New Zealand Tom Reeves said many exploration companies and suppliers operating in Australia had “significant links” with oil, gas and mining activities in Africa.
“We are targeting those companies to highlight our excellent flight connections from Australia to Africa’s key resource exploration regions, travelling via our European hubs in Paris and Amsterdam,” he said.
“The resources industry is booming in both Australia and Africa, and we can connect travellers between both markets with our broad network of destinations and growing number of flights.”
Reeves said the airlines offered “very competitive pricing from Australia”, particularly for resources companies which could also benefit from its Flying Blue Petroleum program, a dedicated rewards scheme for frequent fliers in the mining, oil and gas sectors.
Air France and KLM offer more than 110 departures per week from Australia to Europe all through codeshare arrangements with partner airlines Qantas and Malaysia Airlines from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
