Family travel is an area of growing importance for G Adventures as it seeks to cater to loyal customers that are taking the next steps in life, although it admitted it is still "early days" for the fledgling range.
Duchess of delegation Belinda Ward identified the family sector as an area of significant potential growth.
“People that have travelled with us are getting older and having families,” she told Travel Today. “We want to make sure that we can still cater to them and their changing travel needs.”
The range, which launched last February, includes 30 small-group travel experiences designed for travellers “eager to introduce their children to the world”.
Some of the destinations offered by the range are Thailand, Costa Rica and Vietnam with unique accommodation options and “unexpected” moments thrown in to ensure that the G Adventures style of travel is maintained.
Age guidelines are provided for each itinerary to ensure the activities are well-suited to the kids, with educational elements delivered in a fun yet informative way
However Ward admitted the range is still a work in progress, with the family travel area still relatively new for the company. External consultants have been called in to help with the itineraries as the range is fine-tuned.
It has also been given its own dedicated brochure to ensure that families understand that G has something to offer them.
"When they flicked through our old brochures they may have come across just one or two-family friendly tours and been put off," Ward said. But the new dedicated brochure demonstrates a commitment to the sector, and can inspire families to consider new destinations that previously may not have been on their radar.
