The G20 World Leaders Summit is expected to be the highlight of a “momentous” year for Brisbane, as it showcases the city’s potential for business events to the world.
The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) described the November event as a “unique opportunity” to showcase to the world its expertise in hosting major international events.
“Attended by some of the most powerful leaders of the modern world, the G20 Summit will be a once in a lifetime experience,” BCEC said.
“The event will benefit Brisbane and the business events industry for years into future providing significant opportunities for tourism, trade and investment.”
Preparations for the summit are “well advanced” with more than 40 site inspections to be hosted.
Meanwhile, BCEC has more than 600 events already locked in, including 120 conferences expected to attract 60,000 delegates to the city from a wide spectrum of fields such as science, technology and finance.
The first six months of the 2013/14 financial year saw it notch up 51 new convention wins bringing 41,270 delegates to Brisbane.
