Great Southern Rail goes all-inclusive

Great Southern Rail has launched an all-inclusive offering for Platinum Class passengers with an emphasis on local food and wine.

India Pacific and The Ghan platinum class travellers will experience private chauffer transfers, a concierge service with pre-departure drink and all drinks included on-board.

"It's simply a matter of paying once and relaxing in the knowledge that everything has been taken care of," Great Southern Rail marketing and distribution manager Steve Kernaghan said.

There is now room service available, with a breakfast in bed optionand platinum travellers also have first preference for day excursions.

The rail icon has also launched a new seasonal menu based around the regions that the train travels past.

“Food and wine is a talking point among our guests,” Great Southern Rail PR Manager Melanie Reid said.

“We have been undergoing a culinary renaissance and we want to create a story through our food,” Reid said. “The regions you travel through, like the Barossa, have beautiful food and wine.” 

Luxury extras for platinum class include Haigh’s chocolates and Apelles organic toiletries.
