Cox and Kings chief executive Steve Reynolds has praised the kindness and generosity of the travel industry after it rallied to provide a holiday for a family of four.
Reynolds was approached by a mutual friend of the cash-strapped Olsen family to help organise a break for the family after 29-year-old, mum-of-two Serise was diagnosed with incurable breast cancer.
Renolds said he hoped to negotiate cheap airfares and accommodation but was then "overwhelmed" by the "genuine care and concern and extraordinary generosity" of the travel industry.
Those who helped the family are JustinJustin Montgomery, Virgin Australia; Cam Wallace, Air New Zealand; Kelly Wignall, Virgin Australia; Lisa Travini, Air New Zealand; Rod Menzler, Flight Centre; Allisa O’Connell, Infinity Holidays; Maria Marendy, Infinity Holidays; Mike McManus, Sea Temple Resort, Palm Cover; Pauline Wagner-Carden, Sea Temple Resort, Palm Cove & Port Douglas and Kelvin Dodt, Sea Temple Resort, Port Douglas.
"Like me, the family are truly appreciative of the kindness and generosity of those who haven't met me but who have responded to their plight with such willingness and speed," Reynolds said. "A big thank you to all."
Serise, husband Jarrad and children Lucille, 4, and Charlotte, 18 months, will begin their two week holiday on August 1.
