Strong pre-registrations for Insight Vacation’s 2012/13 Europe winter program demonstrates a level of pent up demand after a slow second half of the 2011/12 season, its managing director has claimed.
Sales for departures in November and December last year climbed significantly on the previous year but January to March slowed, Lorraine Sharp admitted.
Speaking at the launch of next winter’s Europe program, which generates about 10% of Insight’s total passenger numbers, Sharp said: “January to March was slower than we had hoped which is perhaps an indication of the year the industry is having. But Pre-registrations for the 2012/13 winter brochure are up 118% which suggests there is pent up demand.”
The program, which is being distributed to agents this week, features 28 tours, three of which are new. They include an eight-day trip to Sicily with optional three-day extension to Malta, a tour which has previously featured in Insight’s summer program.
Sharp said winter prices are up to 35% cheaper than the core summer program.
Bookings made 10 months before departure will receive a 7.5% discount and 5% for bookings six months out.
