Japan is marking the one-year anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake with a new campaign called “Japan. Thank You”.

The Japan Tourism Agency (JTA) and the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) will launch the campaign on March 11, one year on from the devastating quake, with thank you messages to be displayed across Japan and in key cities around the world.
JTA claimed the country’s recovery had been “more rapid than previously expected” with 700,000 international tourists arriving in January, just 4.5% down on the same month last year. The figure marks a vast improvement on the 70% decline seen immediately after the earthquake.
