Jetstar operated its first 787 international service today as the Qantas off-shoot revealed further schedules for its much-vaunted Dreamliner aircraft.
After several weeks plying domestic routes, Jetstar shifted its 787 to the international arena with flights between Melbourne and Bali taking to the skies today.
And from April 16, Jetstar will deploy a 787 on a new four times weekly Brisbane to Bali service, pending regulatory approval.
Jetstar said the Dreamliner will also fly between Sydney and Bali from January and between Sydney and Phuket the following month.
“Today’s inaugural international flight is a pivotal milestone for Jetstar, marking a new dawn in the history of our long haul operations,” Jetstar Australia and New Zealand chief executive David Hall said.
“As we accept delivery of more 787s over the coming months, we’re really looking forward to introducing this state-of-the-art aircraft on to more routes for the benefit of our customers.”
The airline yesterday revealed the 787 will also operate between Melbourne and Auckland for a month from late February.
Jetstar will have four 787s operating on international routes by April, with Hawaii, Japan and Thailand flagged as future destinations for the aircraft.
