South American carriers LAN Airlines and TAM have successfully completed their merger to create the LATAM Airlines Group.
The newly merged network covers 150 destinations in 22 countries with passengers to benefit from increased connectivity, improved routes and reduced connection times.
From June 27, frequent flyer programs LANPASS and Tam Fidelidade will award points across the entire network with further integrations to follow.
“The creation of this group of airlines is an opportunity to take South America to the world and to allow us to position ourselves to operate in an increasingly competitive environment due to the continuing consolidation of the global airline industry,” executive vice president and chief executive Enrique Cueto said.
