Luxury travel trade show Luxperience has reached capacity, with more than 50% more space sold than at its inaugural event last year.

To cope with demand, the show's organisers have created additional exhibition space at the entrance of Sydney's Overseas Passenger Terminal where it will take place from September 1 to 4.

The second annual event will feature up to 26,000 buyer-seller meetings, director of sales and partner alliances Lindy Andrews revealed.

"Over 160 exhibitors have registered so far," she said. "We're at capacity. Our emphasis is now on maximising the business opportunities of the B2B interactions on site."

The spike in interest is down to the increased "global reach" of the event, aided by a number of pop-up events around the world with more scheduled for the first half of 2014. The event also has an increased emphasis on the MICE sector which has also boosted interest.

The show has also attracted the support of "high profile" partners such as Tourism Australia which decided to participate for the first time this year.
