The Mantra Group’s luxury Peppers brand will move into Melbourne with the opening of a new five star hotel within the city’s $100 million M Docklands development in 2015.

Construction on the new Capital Alliance Investment Group development, situated beside Etihad Stadium on LaTrobe Street in Melbourne’s Docklands precinct, is due to commence early 2014.

“We are very particular about using the Peppers brand on the right property, and this development presents us with an excellent opportunity to secure a presence of appropriate scale and quality for Peppers in a prominent location and we are confident it will be embraced by both locals and visitors to Melbourne,” Mantra chief executive Bob East said.

Featuring 68 one-bedroom apartments, the property will be the first Peppers in Melbourne’s CBD, also set to become the second new build Peppers CBD development after the opening of Peppers Dunmore Brisbane in Fortitude Valley in late 2014.

There are currently four Peppers properties located in regional Victoria’s Daylesford, Mount Hotham, Mornington Peninsula and Torquay.
