The South Australian Tourism Commission has appointed Rodney Harrex, formerly Tourism Australia's head of the UK and Northern Europe, as its new chief executive.

Harrex will take up the role on April 8, replacing Jane Jeffreys who will remain chair of the board.

"His experience in international, and particularly digital, marketing will be a great asset to SATC along with strong global relationships built over his many years in the industry," Jeffreys said.

"This appointment is an exciting new chapter for the SATC."

Meanwhile, Tourism Australia managing director Andrew McEvoy described Harrex as "one of our longest serving and most respected senior executives".

"He leaves with our very best wishes and I know he’ll do a fantastic job in his new role at SATC, where of course he will still retain a close relationship with us as we work together to promote our great country, including South Australia to the world,” he said.
