Online auction house GraysOnline has unveiled the new name of its offer-based hotel reservation system as GraysEscape.com, as it shut down recent acquisition Ubid4rooms.com.
The new site will go live next week, enabling the 1.1 million people who visit GraysOnline.com each month to make an offer to a hotel, with the hotelier either accepting the rate or negotiating with the customer within three hours.
Ubid4rooms founder Gary Mernam, now general manager of the new site, said he was excited to see his concept move into the “big league”.
“I always believed passionately in the concept of Ubid4rooms to revolutionise the way we book accommodation and GraysOnline is an ideal partner to take that vision forward to a whole new level,” he said.
“Our domestic tourism industry urgently needs innovative ways like this to boost business so GraysEscape will provide a win-win for travellers and hoteliers alike.”
