The Australian Federation of Travel Agents has described the US Department of Transport’s tentative approval of the International Air Transport Association’s proposed New Distribution Capability as a “milestone”.
Chief executive Jayson Westbury said that although the DOT has placed some conditions on the approval, the announcement provides “future clarity” for the direction of the plan for a new XML-based data transmission standard which will revolutionise the distribution of airline fares and products.
“The tentative approval embeds several conditions which will enable all interested parties to move forward and work on outcomes that will being mutual benefit to travellers, travel agents, technology companies and airlines for the future” he said.
A total of 5,514 Australian hospitality businesses have been award TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence for 2014, it has been revealed.
Now in its fourth year, the award celebrates hospitality excellence and is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor.
