Royal Caribbean International’s newest ship, Quantum of the Seas, will reposition to China in May 2015, with Shanghai (Baoshan) to become its home port.
The vessel will join Mariner of the Seas and Voyager of the Seas in Asia, increasing the company’s capacity in the region by 66%.
“Consumers in China have grown to expect the best the world has to offer, and Quantum of the Seas meets that standard like no other ship,” president and chief operating officer Adam Goldstein said.
“We are ready to accelerate the growth of this vital market with a ship that will capture the imagination of travellers looking for a one-of-a-kind vacation experience.”
AirAsia X is set to commence flights into Xi’an, Xianyang International Airport, from July 2 onwards.
The airline will operate four flights a week from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Xi’an, China, making AirAsia X the only airline servicing direct flights between the two cities.
The low cost carrier has also added Singapore and Bangkok to its list of Fly-Thru destinations from Colombo, Sri Lanka.
“The addition of routes from Colombo to Singapore and Bangkok on our Fly Thru service radar would further boost tourism traffic between both country and further promote our popular travel destinations, offering guests transit convenience within our group network,’” chief executive Azran Osman-Rani said.
Urban Adventure is now offering travellers city tours of Singapore on its Chinatown Food Adventure.
The Adventure includes a guided tour of Chinatown’s rich cultural heritage and a local breakfast at Singapore’s largest hawker centre.
Etihad Airways has announced five senior appointments in operations, marketing and guest experiences.
Under the changes, Rick Allen, formerly of Air Canada, becomes senior vice president operations, Chris Youlten becomes senior vice president airport and network operations and Andrew Ward takes on the role of senior vice president marketing. Meanwhile, Fiona Morrisson has been named as vice president guest experience midfield terminal and Calum Laming has been appointed vice president guest experience.
The move comes as part of the progressive realignment of the business to the Etihad Aviation Group structure that was announced last month, a structure that that will see Etihad Airways' transition from a single entity airline to a wider global aviation group.
