Capacity on Air New Zealand's Tasman and Pacific routes rose 5.5% in April reflecting additional frequency on the Auckland-Honolulu route and the deployment of a Boeing 777 aircraft on the Auckland-Perth route.

Demand increased by 4.7% with load factor dipping 0.6 percentage points to 83.3%.

Overall the airline carried 1.04 million passengers in April, a rise of 2.2% on the same month last year, with group load factor down 0.9 percentage points to 82.1%.

 

Singapore Airlines and SilkAir customers travelling between Singapore and Shenzhen can now choose between two daily flights under a new codeshare agreement with Shenzhen Airlines.

 

The number of Australians booking travel to Norfolk Island this year has surged, according to its tourism body.

General manager Glen Buffett said forward bookings from the mainland are "strong and encouraging", attributing the rise to growing awareness of the destination and the introduction of Air New Zealand direct flights in March 2012.

Youth operator Contiki is offering three European trips as prizes as part of its new How Far Would You Go? campaign.
