Canberra travel agency Weston Cruise & Travel has become the newest member of the Travellers Choice network.

Launched in 1981, the agency was acquired in mid-2011 by Deborah Long. Over the past two years, she has worked with a team of six consultants to grow the company’s revenue by more than 20%.

“In order to further evolve my business I need to work with a group that empowers me and allows me to think outside the square,” Long said of her decision to join Travellers Choice .

Today marks 10 years since Virgin Australia’s first international flight departed from Christchurch, with the airline announcing a number of new codeshare services to celebrate the occasion.

The eight new international codeshare services include Seattle and Boston with Delta Air Lines, Zurich, Minsk, Medina and Rome with Etihad Airways and Athens and Brunei with Singapore Airlines.

“Over the past 10 years, we have operated over 100,000 international flights, carrying around 15 million passengers,” chief commercial officer Judith Crompton said.

“Our strategy of flying into key international hubs and creating a virtual global network with our alliance partners has brought significant benefits for consumers and for our business.”

Tan Tiow Kor will replace Subhas Menon as Singapore Airlines' Sydney-based regional vice president South West Pacific under a company management rotation, to take effect on February 17.

Under the changes, Menon will be posted to the airline's London office to become regional vice president Europe.

Tan is currently senior vice president sales and marketing for Singapore Airlines Cargo based in Singapore and has held a variety of roles with the company over a 30-year period.

Etihad is on the hunt for “talented hospitality professionals” to join its cabin crew.

Recruitment days will be held in Sydney on Monday February 10 and Melbourne on Wednesday February 12.

Australian nationals interested in joining the airline’s team of cabin crew, food and beverage managers, and qualified in-flight chefs, should apply online at http://careers.etihadairways.com/ehire/English/, ahead of the scheduled recruitment days.

Another two suite ships will join the Avalon Waterways fleet in 2015, taking its fleet to a total of 10 suite ships.

Newcomers Avalon Tapestry II and Avalon Tranquility II are revealed in Avalon Waterways’ new 2015 preview brochure, which is now available for download from the Avalon website.

A new partnership will see Cruise Holidays Australia offer reviews from American Cruise reporter Ralph Grizzle of The Avid Cruiser on its website.

The page will also extend to all Cruise Holidays affiliate and home based agencies individual websites.
