Visitors looking to eat and drink their way through a few days in South Australia will be gratified to learn that there are now even more options to choose from in the state.

Several new gems have opened on Adelaide's periphery, among them are Aldgate House in the Adelaide Hills and The Gallery Bed and Breakfast in Blackwood, in the city's southern foothills.
Aldgate House is an ideal spot for visitors to base themselves for a few days of wine tasting. The focus is squarely on comfort with the property featuring plush furnishings, a spa bath, underfloor heating and a log fire for those chilly evenings.

The Gallery Bed and Breakfast, meanwhile, is a French-style country property in a bushland setting where guests can savour the natural landscape in the outdoor terrace and garden. There's also a fully equipped kitchen, meaning cooking up local Adelaide Hills produce is easily achievable.

And for those keen to enjoy the spectacular coast of Kangaroo Island, the beachfront Kangaroo Island Star property will tick all the boxes. Only a minute's walk from Island Beach, the three bedroom property features sweeping views, floor to ceiling windows and all the comforts of a luxury modern home.

In terms of upcoming events, visitors to the state will have no shortage of options either.
The Adelaide Fringe, which features 700 arts events and 3000 performers, kicks off on February 24 and runs until March 18. Elsewhere, WOMADelaide, a celebration of world music, runs in the city from March 9 to March 12, while the Australian Swimming Championships – qualifiers for the London Olympics – take place from March 15 to March 22.

And lovers of the good life should start planning for Tasting Australia, which runs from April 26 to May 3. It's one of the country's premier events that brings the food industry  and the public together to enjoy some of the country's best produce, beer and, of course, wine.
