Perth city planners have risked scaring off property developers and investors after rejecting proposals for a 230-room in the CBD, the Australian Hotels Association has warned.
The WA division of the AHA said the 11-storey hotel in Barrack Square was rejected because planners felt it was too tall compared to the next door Bell Tower.
"This is entirely the wrong message Perth needs to be sending to potential quality hotel developers and investors," AHA (WA) chief executive Bradley Woods said. "The Bell Tower should not be the measuring stick for development in Perth."
