The Travel Corporation is continuing its search for a Perth property to add to its Red Carnation brand portfolio, president and chief executive Brett Tollman has revealed.
The group has been approached by a Perth developer proposing a management contract, but Tollman told Travel Today such an arrangement was “not of interest”.
Instead, it is targeting a joint venture – a departure from its traditional business model.
“We’d look to put in 25% of our own money with a developer and then have a long term management contract,” he said.
Tollman said Melbourne and Sydney both already hosted a number of good hotels, with development costs in the latter particularly high.
“Perth is an incredibly strong market and we think it is underserved by luxury boutique hotels,” he said.
“We’ll keep looking for the right opportunity.”
Meanwhile, the firm continues to look for an investment opportunity in Beijing and has just acquired its second hotel in Guernsey.
