Phil Hoffman Travel is set to axe wholesale arm, International Destinations, as ongoing political instability in the Middle East continues to take its toll on bookings.
The Sydney-based operation, which specialised in individually tailored itineraries to to North Africa, the Middle East and the Mediterranean, confirmed it had stopped taking bookings around two weeks ago and will close its doors permanently on Friday.
A significant decline in demand for travel to the region since the start of the Arab Spring was at the heart of the closure.
Meanwhile, the firm stressed that customers would not be affected, with all bookings already received to be honoured.
Phil Hoffman’s headquarters in Adelaide will handle any queries about International Destinations bookings beyond Friday.
