Qantas Holidays and Viva! Holidays have restructured their agent support centre in a move designed to provide more expert knowledge for the trade on specific destinations.
The wholesaler has also created a specialist online team to help with easyway and Calypsonet bookings and with Ready Rooms for Agents.
A new industry sales website, www.qhv.com.au/agents, has been launched in tandem with the new structure.
Destination specialist reservation teams will cover US/Canada and Hawaii, UK/Europe and Middle East, Asia, South Pacific and New Zealand and domestic.
Each consultant has received 2000 hours of training and was selected according to their own travelling experience and interests, Qantas Holidays said.
General manager wholesale Michael Londregan said reservations staff were the “number one asset”.
“In fact, reservations sales are the epicentre of our business,” he said. “This framework allows us to provide the specialist advice and support our preferred agents have been requesting.”
National industry sales manager Fiona Dalton described the creation of an e-commerce team as particularly beneficial for the trade.
More than 50% of bookings are started on easyway, she said.
“This extra piece in our service solution will free our business development executives to focus on their business partnerships and provide the product and sales support their agents require,” she said.
In a further development, priority access will be provided for the wholesaler’s Global Achievers.
