The stylish new Los Angeles Business Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport has been officially unveiled by managing airline Qantas, together with joint owners Cathay Pacific and British Airways.

The lounge can accommodate up to 400 customers, however after the final completion in 2015, it will offer seating for 600 people. When combined with the new Qantas First Lounge that will open in conjunction with the finished Business Lounge, it will be more than double the size of the former space.

Qantas International chief executive Simon Hickey said the lounge demonstrates the airline’s commitment to its customers and to LA as one of the most popular hubs in its overseas network.

“Los Angeles is our major gateway to the US and with our partners we connect our customers to more than 270 destinations across the United States, Canada and Mexico,” he said. The design reflects the Californian culture, while still featuring signature elements from each airline.

The lounge provides guests with food and beverage menus that are influenced by multicultural California, and served in a new dining area and cocktail bar, with a barista service also on offer.

Customers can also enjoy a buffet, faster WiFi, new workstations and nine shower suites with amenities from Aurora Spa.

Qantas chef Neil Perry has designed the menus based on signature Qantas Lounge favourites, with an LA-appropriate multicultural slant.

Cathay Pacific’s senior vice president Tom Owen said the new Business Lounge represents the airline partners’ commitment to customers, delivering the level of luxury business travellers expect.

“Our major investment in the Los Angeles business lounge is a reflection of the importance of this market to us and we are pleased to join with fellow oneworld carriers Qantas and British Airways in welcoming our customers inside,” Owen said.
