Queensland minister for tourism Jan Jarratt has welcomed an influx of tourists to Queensland over the Christmas period as a "shot in the arm" for state tourism.
She attributed the healthy visitor numbers to a spate of good weather and spoke optimistically of prospects for 2012.
"Queensland is surging towards an economic boom as the powerhouse of Australia and my priority is to ensure that wealth and that success is shared by all," she said.
Jarratt added that a review was underway of feedback received on the government's discussion paper on how to take the industry forward and promised to finalise the state's Tourism Action Plan 2012-2015 shortly.
