Business as usual for parts of Queensland

Regions of Queensland have attempted to reassure travellers that their tourism industries are open for business, days after severe weather conditions and flooding struck parts of the state.

Sunshine Coast Destination Limited chief executive, Steve Cooper, said the clean-up operation is underway with the majority of tourism businesses "open and operational".

"Bookings were affected over the weekend with cancellations due to the weather and power outages affecting some business trade, but overall there has been limited infrastructure damage," he said.

However the tourism body encouraged visitors to heed safety messages and advice from local authorities and to contact travel providers if concerned about a booking.

SCDL confirmed it is working with partners to help affected tourism businesses recover from the impact of ex-cyclone Oswald.

Meanwhile, Gold Coast Tourism insisted the storm had passed the region with "minimal impact".

"Our valued partners can continue to promote and sell the Gold Coast with absolute confidence, knowing that all the famous attractions and activities are unaffected and ready for business," a statement said.

However, it warned some parts of the state have been seriously affected and advised travellers to check the Tourism and Events Queensland website for updates.
