A new online check-in feature from South African Airways (SAA) enables customers to use Facebook to decide who they want to sit next on their next flight.

Passengers checking in online with the new Social Check-In tool can share their Facebook details, specifying which information they are happy to share with other passengers, and access the details of others, enabling them to select seats next to people with the same interests or going to the same events.

“Now there’s no excuse to be bored,” SAA country manager Australasia said. “Customers can spice it up by selecting anyone who also uses the feature and has shared their own details.”

The service is available on SAA’s flights within South Africa and all its international routes, including its daily Perth service.

To use it, customers must check in from 24 hours before their flight and no less than 90 minutes for domestic services and two hours for international.
