Some 900 lucky customers who purchased Singapore Airlines business class seats at economy prices will be allowed to travel in luxury with the airline saying it will honour the tickets.
The seats sold for around $3500 instead of its usual rate of $8500 by travel agents across Australia due to a computer glitch last week was initially expected to either be refunded to passengers, or they could opt to front the difference, but according to a News.com report today, the airline said it will accept the tickets.
The paper reports a Singapore Airlines’ spokesperson as saying to “ensure no disruption to customers’ travel plans, the airline would honour all affected bookings”.
“Singapore Airlines will be contacting affected customers and travel agents to advise that their business class bookings will be honoured at the original fare purchased,” the paper reported.
“Investigations continue to be carried out to determine the root cause of this issue.”
Singapore Airlines initially said the fares were loaded in a subclass that had been reassigned from Economy class to Business class resulting in the error.
