After four years as the Switzerland Tourism director of Australia and New Zealand, Evelyn Lafone will leave her post in Sydney on July 25 to head up the tourism body's office in Canada.
During Lafone's time in the Australian role, Switzerland has enjoyed a consistent 11% increase of visitors from Australia and 8% from New Zealand each year.
Mark Wettstein will replace her, officially commencing his role as the Sydney-based director for Australia and New Zealand in late October. He brings to the role knowledge and experience from the airline industry.
Switzerland Tourism executive vice president Urs Eberhard paid tribute to Lafone's achievements at a farewell lunch yesterday.
“Evelyn has laid a very solid foundation and implemented a series of successful strategies to educate the Australian and New Zealand markets encouraging travellers to visit Switzerland," he said.
Eberhard welcomed Wettstein to the role, underlining his key task and challenge as continuing that engagement with the trade and consumer markets and further improving Switzerland's market share of Australian and New Zealand travellers.
Mark Wettstein will be replacing Evelyn Lafone as Director Australia and New Zealand from end of October 2014.
