Tollman: get behind escorted tours

Travel Corporation boss Brett Tollman has urged agents to remain focused on escorted touring product.
His comments come in the wake of Globus managing director Stewart Williams' accusation that agents were losing sight of coach touring as franchise networks fail to hit sales targets.
“While we wouldn’t put it that way, we would agree that agents can make a hell of a lot of money selling escorted tours,” Tollman told Travel Today, stressing the operator remained “very trade-centric”.
“We need to make sure we continue to have resonance and awareness in the trade especially as we don’t have the resources or the business model in escorted touring to put a lot of money behind consumer advertising.”
Meanwhile, he admitted the take up of its fledgling Inspiring Journeys product had been “a little disappointing.
“Inspiring Journeys has not been as well received as we would have hoped or expected within the local market,” he admitted.
The brand will now be rolled out across Asia, with the US and the UK to follow once partners have been found.
But he stressed it would take time for the brand to see the results.
