Trafalgar has reported a "huge surge" in bookings for its 2012 European tours as more Australian travellers look to take advantage of the strong economy.
With the Euro around 30% stronger than four years ago, bookings for the operator's family program have risen 55% on last year, while its Cost Save program increased 24% over the same period. Lead times are also shorter compared with the same time last year.
Trafalgar managing director, Matthew Cameron-Smith, credited the trend to the strong Australian economy, with the Euro now at 80.3 cents to the Australian dollar.
"Europe has never been more affordable or appealing," Cameron-Smith said. "Fantastic currency conversion rates are really creating that impetus to make people travel imminently."
