Virgin Australia has taken a step closer to taking control of 60% of Tiger Airways Australia after the Foreign Investment Review Board raised no objection to the deal.
The carrier welcomed the development, saying it satisfies another condition of the acquisition that will "enable Virgin Australia to access the budget market segment and expedite the growth of Tiger Australia".
The transaction still remains subject to certain conditions with the airline expecting the deal to be completed by mid July.
