Is there anywhere better to host a travel conference than Queensland?  With its golden beaches, tropical wildlife and friendly locals, Queensland is often what tourists think about when they decide to visit Australia.

I know this better than anyone: it was Queensland that enticed my parents to sell their car in England back in 2002 so that they could travel (along with their three young children) to Australia. Starting off in Brisbane and later Cairns we spent 6 months travelling around Australia in our affectionately-named campervan – Scooby.

More than twenty years later I am back in Cairns without Scooby or my parents for Travel Weekly’s leading event for individuals working in the travel industry: Travel DAZE Exec.

Travel Weekly’s deputy editor Sofia Geraghty

Kicking off on Tuesday this week, Travel DAZE Exec brings together leading names to look at how we can propel the industry forward.

Speaking at the conference in Cairns will be some of the biggest names in travel including: Clinton Hearne, global head of marketing, Flight Centre, Adam Schwab, Co-founder and CEO, Luxury Escapes and Susan Coghill, CMO, Tourism Australia.

As well as being a chance to hear from industry leaders it is also a change to connect with peers in the industry and remember the magic of tourism and travel.
