Accor has appointed of Rob McIntyre as Vice President Operations for New Zealand & Fiji, effective 13 April 2026.

McIntyre brings deep operational expertise and a strong understanding of the New Zealand market, having previously held senior leadership roles across the country, including General Manager of Pullman Auckland Hotel & Apartments, regional general manager positions, and broader operational and brand leadership roles. Most recently based in Singapore, McIntyre has led complex, high-performing Accor operations internationally, including the flagship Pullman Singapore Orchard.

McIntyre’s appointment marks a return to New Zealand for him and his family and comes at a moment of sustained momentum for Accor. The Group now operates 49 hotels and more than 6,300+ rooms across New Zealand, underlining its position as New Zealand’s largest hotel operator, and four hotels and 600+ rooms in Fiji.

Accor’s growth in New Zealand has recently been reinforced by the debut of two new brands in Auckland, with TRIBE Auckland Fort Street and JO&JOE Auckland opening within weeks of each other, reflecting Accor’s confidence in the long-term strength of the market and in the evolving expectations of travellers. In his new role, Rob will play a key role in continuing Accor’s active work with Tourism New Zealand and regional tourism organisations to support the recovery of New Zealand’s tourism industry.

“I’m thrilled to be returning home to New Zealand and to be stepping into this role at such an exciting time for Accor,” McIntyre said. “New Zealand and Fiji are markets I know and love, and I’m looking forward to working closely with our teams and owners to build on the strong momentum, deliver exceptional guest experiences, and continue growing our diverse portfolio across the region.”

New Zealand’s hotel performance continues to trend positively. Queenstown benefited strongly from increased Australian arrivals in 2025 and continued growth in meetings and corporate travel, while Auckland’s performance has been closely linked to major sporting and entertainment events that drive periods of heightened demand. Accor is well positioned to benefit from the opening of the New Zealand International Convention Centre which is expected to generate significant accommodation demand and support occupancy and rate performance across Auckland.

The Group expects to see a rise in occupancy in 2026, supported by leisure groups, large-scale events, and conference activity across Auckland and Wellington. Development momentum will also continue, with the opening of Pullman Hamilton later this year, expanding the Group’s premium footprint in the Waikato region and reinforcing its commitment to regional growth.

“Rob’s appointment reflects our long-term confidence in New Zealand and Fiji, and our commitment to strong, on-the-ground leadership in New Zealand to support continued growth, performance, and owner partnerships across the region,” said Accor’s chief operating officer of in the Pacific, Adrian Williams. “His deep operational knowledge, understanding of Accor’s brands and culture, and strong relationships with owners and teams make him ideally placed to lead the next phase of Accor’s journey in New Zealand and Fiji.”

Accor’s portfolio in New Zealand spans city hubs and iconic leisure destinations such as Queenstown, Lake Tekapo, Christchurch, Wellington, Rotorua and Auckland. The Group currently operates 17 renowned international brands in the country, including Sofitel, MGallery, Pullman, Mövenpick, Grand Mercure, Peppers, The Sebel, Mantra, Novotel, TRIBE, Mercure, BreakFree, JO&JOE, ibis, ibis Styles, and ibis budget, alongside Ennismore’s vibrant SO/ brand.
