Accor has been busy this past week, opening the doors of a slick new Mercure across the ditch and a new resort in South Australia.

For those who can’t wait to take advantage of the trans-Tasman bubble (once it’s back in business, of course), Accor has begun welcoming guests to the brand-spanking-new Mercure Auckland Queen Street in New Zealand.

Situated near the Town Hall, Civic Theatre and Aotea Square, the 96-room hotel promises contemporary design and boutique interiors.

Wall panelling, furniture, fabrics and colours have been carefully curated to reflect a modernist appeal and the vibrant local culture of its surroundings.

The hotel’s guestrooms offer king, queen or twin beds featuring unlimited free WiFi, a 50-inch smart TV and a work desk, plus elevated city views with an outdoor balcony for those booked in deluxe rooms.

It also boasts a 24-hour reception, fitness centre, boardroom, reduced mobility rooms and inter or outer-connecting rooms for families.

Set at the centre of the hotel with street access and a coffee window is The Basement Restaurant and Bar offering all-day dining of delicious Italian and Mediterranean cuisine.

To celebrate its opening, the property has launched an opening special with standard king rooms going for $199 per night.

Locally, Accor and with New Terry Developments have opened the shiny new 87-room BreakFree Wirrina Cove resort, right in the heart of Wirrina Cove, South Australia.

The resort is set to become a new hub for business travellers and leisure guests looking for resort-style accommodation in South Australia’s spectacular Gulf St Vincent.

Surrounded by national parks, with photogenic beaches, waterfalls and kangaroos, the resort has one of the most sweeping and spectacular panoramic views of Gulf St Vincent.

BreakFree Wirrina Cove offers an impressive 18-hole golf course, state-of-the-art conference and function facilities, high-speed internet, a bar and cafe facilities, plus a pool and gym, and onsite car parking.

To celebrate its opening, the property has launched an opening special with stays from $119 per night.
