Adventure World has released its new Snow Leopards of Ladakh itinerary, one of the “hero journeys” of the brand’s new Tailor-Made Winter Collection.

Tapping into a surge in global demand for transformational, experience-led winter travel that goes beyond the traditional Aussie and Kiwi snow holiday.

The 8-day journey offers a rare opportunity to search for one of the planet’s most elusive big cats through the remote Himalayan landscapes of Ladakh, India. This itinerary introduces a more elevated and comfortable style of travel. Rather than winter camping, travellers will stay in lodge-style accommodation with private bedrooms allowing them to experience Ladakh’s wilderness without sacrificing comfort.

Guests will also benefit from a network of expert local trackers and high-end Swarovski spotting scopes to maximise wildlife viewing opportunities.

“Searching for snow leopards in the Himalayas in northwest India is a travel experience unlike any other,” Adventure World product manager for Asia & India Eric Finley said.

“The setting of Ladakh is a key part of this with spectacular mountain landscapes, high-altitude deserts and Buddhist monasteries perched on mountainsides. The snow leopard is considered one of the world’s most sought after wildlife sightings and Ladakh is one of just a handful of locations globally where one in the wild becomes a real possibility.

“Seeing these big cats in the wild is a very special memory. My first sighting was of a female sitting on a rocky outcrop just 100 meters above a mountain valley track, quietly watching over her kill. None of us could see the leopard at first, but as each of us spotted her amongst the rugged terrain, the excitement was incredible. On our final morning, we watched another leopard crossing a snow-covered peak a kilometre away.  It was unforgettable.”

Beyond the thrill of the wildlife viewing, the itinerary balances natural exploration with cultural immersion. Travellers stay in the high-altitude village of Uley, surrounded by dramatic rocky slopes and deep valleys, and explore sacred Ladakhi heritage sites, including the Thikse Monastery. The journey provides firsthand exposure to ancient Tibetan Buddhist spiritual traditions and practices, ensuring a holistic, emotionally resonant journey.

The Snow Leopards of Ladakh itinerary is 8 days / 7 nights from AU$5,635 pp / NZ$6,605 pp. Departures operate daily between November to March and can be tailored to the individual traveller.
