Aeronology has announced that the company’s online travel applications and online services will become multilingual.
The travel tech player’s CEO, Russell Carstensen (pictured above), said that due to imminent signing of Aeronology global contracts and in discussions with those customers, it was agreed that now is the time to be prepared for the multilingual users of our applications.
Aeronology will contract members of the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) to provide translation services for 12 languages over the next year for all of its working applications, including GDS services.
The 12 languages are English (USA, UK, SA English), Chinese (simple and Mandarin), Bahasa Indonesian, Malay, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, German, French, and Vietnamese.
Carstensen said other languages such as Arabic, Urdu, Maori, Hindi, Turkish, Persian, Italian, Dutch, and Nordic languages will be released as Aeronology’s markets grow.
“This is a huge investment in time and effort”, he said. “But if we are serious about planting the world ‘global’ on our business, we have to behave like one.
“Our customers and users will be able to pick the language they like to work in, even if they are living in another country.
“I’m currently learning Mongolian by correspondence, so Aeronology may even cover that market one day. Next year, I’m thinking of studying Chamicuro.
“The one language I simply can’t get my head around is ‘New Zealander English’. I think I’ll leave that translation to the locals there.”
This latest announcement from Aeronology has inspired Travel Weekly’s editor to learn to speak fluent Elvish.
