Magellan Travel kicks off 11th annual conference at Uluru

11th annual Magellan Travel Conference [1]

More than 200 Magellan Travel members and industry partners have gathered at Uluru this week to attend the company’s 11th annual conference.

On Wednesday afternoon, over 60 delegates embarked on a pre-conference activity with SEIT Tours through Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, where they visited Kata Tjuta (the Olgas).

Sponsored by Club Med, attendees heard from experienced guides about the diverse flora and fauna across the land and discovered the cultural significance of Kata Tjuta being a sacred Aboriginal men’s ceremonial site.

Last night, delegates witnessed a magical welcome to country performance at the start of the welcome event, which was followed by a poolside BBQ sponsored by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.

Macfarlane expressed his gratitude for “the commitment that so many have made to be a part of our conference year after year” and went on to say “this poolside BBQ is a great way to welcome everyone to the most quintessential of Australian destinations.”

Jayes Travel creates tourism co-working space for consultants and staff

Michelle Barker from Jayes Travel

Six months ago, Jayes Travel managing director Michelle Barker was inspired to create a co-working space dedicated to the tourism and travel industry.

Having spent 17 years watching the industry evolve, Barker’s progressive approach to the industry led her to move Jayes Travel to a larger Newcastle CBD premises, opposite the Market Street Lawn, where she has now made her vision a reality.

Barker said the space provides a welcoming team environment for independent consultants to work, meet clients in a secure and professional setting, and accelerate their careers as travel agents, while benefiting from a flexible work setting.

The office features hot desks for consultants, permanent desks for staff provided by Jayes Travel that support consultants, break-out lounges and tables for client meetings, and a receptionist who adds an additional level of service for guests.
