It was a taste of the top end for 120 guests at AIME 2015 recently.
The Northern Territory Convention Bureau put on a spread of culinary goodness at the Northern Territory function held off-site from the MCEC on the Tuesday evening of AIME.
Held at Melbourne’s hot restaurant, Pei Modern, the affair was relaxed, with a focus on culinary goodness in an al fresco terrace setting.
Hosted AIME buyers and key Melbourne-based contacts enjoyed spectacular canapé cuisine courtesy of NT “Mate” and Masterchef celeb, Lynton Tapp, who also happens to be chef at Pei Modern.
Having grown up on a cattle station in the Northern Territory, Lynton has now established himself as a sort of foodie genius down under.
The cuisine served at the event highlighted the ‘wow factor’ of NT’s unique flavours, and guests sampled everything from buffalo ricotta croquettes with lemon myrtle and marinated, slow-cooked barramundi, to wood-grilled prawns with seaweed butter and a brûlée with bananas & wattle ice cream.
Lynton spoke a bit about his NT background and his love of the Territory, whilst introducing the impressive array of dishes to the guests.
Entertainment came in the form of Russell Robertson, a former AFL star, performer and friend-of-the-NT, who teamed up with renowned Aussie singer-songwriter Phil Ceberano to deliver some funky background tunes.
Northern Territory Convention Bureau’s exec director for business and events, Suzanne Morgan, said the company was thrilled with the turnout.
“The buyers greatly appreciated the chance to truly relax amongst old and new NT friends,” Morgan said.
“Our exhibitor partners were thrilled to support an event that so effectively positions the Northern Territory as a leading destination of choice, from a culinary as well as a Business Event perspective.”
