Passengers travelling in economy class on Air Canada’s daily, non-stop B777 service between Sydney and Vancouver can now carry twice the amount of baggage thanks to a new policy.

The new allowance of two items of baggage, each weighing up to 23kg, applies to tickets issues on or after November 4 for travel from December 17.

The same increase applies on all Air Canada’s onward services to destinations across Canada and the US.

“Australian travellers are exploring more of Canada than ever before, and at the same time many are taking advantage of Air Canada’s extensive North American network to create trips that combine Canadian and US destinations,” Air Canada general manager Australia and New Zealand Paul McLean said.

“Thanks to the increase in checked baggage allowance, Air Canada’s Economy Class passengers can now pack everything they need, then relax and focus on enjoying an unforgettable vacation.”

The airline is anticipating a spike in the number of Australians travelling to Canada over the next year, with Air Canada to become the only carrier offering year-round, non-stop flights between Brisbane and Vancouver from June 2016 using its B787 Dreamliner aircraft.
